MJHS: Boys Track Finishes Second At District Meet

This is the image for the news article titled MJHS: Boys Track Finishes Second At District MeetThe Marshall Junior High eighth grade boys track team finished second overall in the team standings at the 2017 District Junior High Track Meet held Thursday, April 6, at Bobcat Stadium in Hallsville.

The MJHS Mavs had several student-athletes win individual district championships, however. These included:

  • 4x100 Relay: Ryan Manning, Dhravian Redd, Daquavion Jackson, Jyrrean Mapps
  • 4x200 Relay: Chris Washington, Dominique Williams, James Thomas, Elliean Leeks
  • 100 Meter: Jyrrean Mapps
  • 400 Meter: James Thomas
  • 300 Meter Hurdles: Daquavion Jackson
  • Triple Jump: James Thomas

MJHS also had a seventh-grade individual champion, as Jacorian Perry finished first in the Long Jump with a leap of 16'-11 3/4".

Other Mavs to place in their respective events in the eighth-grade division included:

  • 800 Meter: Dalton Hoskins, second place
  • 110 Meter Hurdles: Daquavion Jackson, second place
  • 200 Meter: Elliean Leeks, second place
  • 100 Meter: Elliean Leeks, third place
  • Long Jump: James Thomas, third place
  • Shot Put: Michael Washington, fourth place
  • 400 Meter: Dalton Hoskins, fourth place
  • Discus: Dhravian Redd, fifth place; Michael Washington, sixth place
  • High Jump: Daquavion Jackson, fifth place

Seventh-grade finishers for the Mavs also included:

  • 2400 Meters: Juan Ramirez, sixth place
  • 300 Meter Hurdles: James Perkins, fourth place
  • 4x100 Relay: Aldo Olvera, james Perkins, Arshawn Rines, Jacorian Perry, fifth place
  • 4x200 Relay: Aldo Olvera, Kenneth Calloway, Domar Roberson, Christopher George, fifth place
  • Triple Jump: Domar Roberson, fifth place
  • High Jump: Kenneth Calloway, fourth place; James Perkins, fifth place
